Drowning near Tilt Cove

On Saturday, August 4, shortly after 3:00pm, the RCMP in Baie Verte responded to a report of a drowning which occurred near the community of Tilt Cove.

Police say A 50-year-old man from La Scie had been riding a seadoo in a pond when he was ejected from the seadoo. He was not wearing a life jacket.

Nearby witnesses observed the man in the water so they swam out to him, boarded the seadoo, and brought him to shore.

Witnesses performed CPR on the man until paramedics arrived on scene, where officials continued efforts to resuscitate him.

The man was transported to the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre by ambulance where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The RCMP in Baie Verte continue to investigate this drowning. The man's name has not been released.
