Dr. Larry Moss, member of lodge and first Grand Master from outside the Avalon Peninsula to hold this position in the Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador, took part in the installation ceremony which saw Jerry Brett installed as Worshipful Master of the Lodge.
And during the installation banquet held that evening at Manuel Hall, Barb Butt received the Springdale Citizen of the Year award which is sponsored by ND Lodge.
In addition, on Sunday, Sept.12, following a presentation by Karen Huxter at Grace United Church on her work operating an orphanage in Haiti, ND Lodge responded to her plea for emergency funding following the January earthquake by donating $200 to sponsor the education and care of an orphan.
Notre Dame Lodge is Springdale and Green Bay's oldest fraternal organization, having been established 130 years ago. Originally founded in the mining community of Bett's Cove, Notre Dame Lodge later moved to Little Bay before settling in Springdale.
