“Wow! This is Snow in July!” says Carter Hayes.

There were twenty-six children at the Springdale Public Library TD Summer Program anxious to find out where the AIRBUS4169 would take them this week. As they entered Miss Judy’s International Airport they passed away some waiting time by reading and hanging out and socializing with friends. Librarian Judy then made the call for all to join her for the big announcement on where the AIRBUS 4169 airplane would take them this week.

The Destination would be: The North Pole! How excited they all were to be about to experience cold weather for a short time because it has been so hot here in Newfoundland this summer.

The airplane song was sung, the airplane was started, then Co-Pilot, Becky Evans made her way to the Cockpit. Flight Attendant Miss Judy told them what the weather was like at the North Pole and they all then proceeded to enter security with their passport stamped.

Before they knew it they could hear the song “It’s Snowing, It’s Snowing” in the distance and that meant that they had arrived to the North Pole! When they went through security they were met by a lady all dressed in Winter Coat and boots, giving them a Welcome Bracelet with Welcome to the North Pole written on it for them to wear. There were snowflakes on the ground and the snow was falling in the air.

At the North Pole, Librarian Judy showed them the North Pole Flag, discussed some of the jobs that were there, that whales, and Ice Cream were some of the food they enjoy, Dog team racing was the sport and their form of transportation was on Ski-doos. She also told them the most popular animal there was a Polar Bear in which she read a story called The Polar Bear’s Gift written by Jeanne Bushey, a must read book for all. In the distance there was a huge wrapped present addressed to Miss Judy and the passengers of the AIRBUS4169, which they could open at the end of their visit. Everyone was given an ice cube in his or her hands to add that feeling of being cold.

At the North Pole they got to make snow as a science experiment, which was enjoyed by all. It was then time to visit the North Pole Ice cream parlor in which they were served a snow cone with coloured sprinkles of their choice. It was time to find out what was inside the big present left for them and the letter that was attached. Librarian Judy began to read the letter and to all of their surprise it was from the jolly old man himself, SANTA! In the Letter he welcomed everyone to the North Pole and said that he was sorry he couldn’t be there because he was so busy getting ready for the upcoming Christmas season. He stated that he left his Santa suit for Miss Judy to dress up in to give out the small present that he left for them. He was so thankful for all the cookies that the boys and girls leaves for him on Christmas Eve that he contacted Subway and gave all of them a free cookie coupon to go and enjoy a cookie from him and gave them all his personal post office address for the children to write him their Christmas list. He even promised to write them back!

Santa also made sure to remind them to be all good boys and girls and that he is making is his list and checking it twice, going to find out who’s naughty or nice.

When the letter was read Librarian Judy had to start doing what Santa had asked, dress up in his suit! Piece by piece, with the help of all the children she put on the Santa suit and gave everyone the gift that Santa had left for them. The sound of the Airbus 4169 could be heard and that meant that everyone had to fly back to Newfoundland. They all lined up to go through security for the flight home only to be met at Miss Judy’s airport by their parents. It was a cold trip to the North Pole but it was also a very special one too. Keep reading to find out where the AIRBUS4169 will be traveling next week.
